Some of the most influential names in blues were driven by the electric guitar. One notable player being James Moore, otherwise famously known as Slim Harpo. With such hit songs as “I’m a King Bee” and “Shake Your Hips,” Slim Harpo laid some of the groundwork for bands such as The Rolling Stones and The Kinks to take off with their own renditions. The heart of his music came from a combination of harmonica and, of course, a Gibson guitar. Today, Gibson USA recreates his famous ES-330 for a new generation of blues fans to play along with a setup of awesome specifications and sounds. The Slim Harpo “Lovell” ES-330 is constructed with a 3-ply maple / poplar / maple top, back and sides with careful spruce bracing. Two Dogear P-90 pickups are equipped in this guitar to summon all the bluesy tones essential for the genre. With a smooth mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard with small block inlays, the ES-330 is effortlessly playable to strum along to any blues classic. The custom logo on the back of the headstock reads “Lovell,” the name of Harpo’s life partner and co-writer. A legendary bluesman with a one-of-a-kind guitar, Slim Harpo’s legacy lives on.
