While all the exclusive guitars that Fender Custom Shop had on display at the NAMM show were incredible, this was one kept calling out to us. We were thrilled when we had the opportunity to add it to our inventory and make it available to our customers.
Looks-wise it’s not hard to see why. Daphne Blue has always been a fan-favorite, but somewhat rare color for Fender in general; and when you put it on a Jaguar with a Journeyman Relic Finish, it becomes an instant showstopper. It would be easy to add this to the collection and just take it out occasionally to stare at and admire, but then you’d be missing out on the other two-thirds of what makes this guitar truly special.
While the Journeyman Relic finish package serves an aesthetic purpose on the front of the guitar, it serves a highly functional purpose on the back (specifically, the back of the neck). The smooth, soft feel of the tinted quartersawn “C” shaped neck, the 9.5” radius, the medium-jumbo 6150 frets, plus the 24” scale gives this guitar unbelievable playability.
It only gets better when you plug it in. The Custom Shop ‘62 Jaguar Pickups give it the signature chime and sparkle that the Jaguar is known for, but with some added depth and balanced low-end.
If you are a Jaguar player, this one-off exclusive is one of the best examples of the model that we’ve ever come across. If you have yet to add a Jaguar to the collection, now is probably a good time to rectify that.
