Due to the handcrafted nature of these pedals, the colors change frequently and our photos may not reflect what we have at the moment.
Seeking the tones of Grateful Dead guitarist Jerry Garcia is a popular pastime, through capturing them is a tall order. Inspired by vintage tones reminiscent of Garcia’s late ‘70s custom Stratoblaster circuit, the Samson ’78 is not an exact clone or copy of any other pedal, but a tool for adventurous music making. Distortion and preamp gain smoothly mix together to create warm tones familiar to fans of the Grateful Dead. The Samson ’78 uses old circuit ideas with modern circuitry updates to eliminate unwanted noise when engaged. Complete tonal clarity with distortion and gain cranked cannot be promised, but enjoyable tones with plenty of character can be assured. While not a direct emulation of Jerry Garcia’s iconic tones, the Samson ’78 is a pedal full of glowing gain and bluesy breakup. Handmade in Casco, Maine, each Samson ’78 is individually built and stamped, so variations in appearance are possible. However, the sounds produced from the Samson ’78 are universally creative and cool with great tonal character and a unique vintage voice.
