This Martin Custom Shop Size 2 model is an exceptional example of a classic body shape, reimagined with some modern appointments and design. The “Size 2″ body shape is an early design found in pre-war catalogues and is a currently discontinued size. It features a small 12” bout, which brings it in to the “parlor” size category. Though this guitar is small, it has a piano like quality, and is much louder than its size may infer. It really shines with finger picking and was originally used in open D or DADGAD tunings.
The top is a unique piece of Bear claw Engelmann Spruce with some eye-catching figuring with an extremely tight grain around the sprinkles of bear claw. The highly quilted maple is fitted on the back & sides of this guitar that was hand selected by the original owner at the Martin Factory. A modest yet striking slotted headstock with a polished East Indian Rosewood piece of wood is inlayed in abalone featuring the classic script Martin Logo. This guitar also features flamed maple binding and a factory installed L.R Baggs Anthem pickup.
Minor play wear around the sound hole due to the lack of a pickguard, otherwise there are little to no imperfections present on the guitar.
