This 1969 Fender Mustang is a first year model to feature a forearm contour and back contour as the original mustang bodies were designed with a slab body. During this year Fender released the Competition stripe model featuring 3 custom custom colors (Candy Apple Red, Lake Placed Blue, Competition Orange) with the option of a matching head stock. From our research this model has been refinished in an Olympic white that has aged to a light yellow.
The neck profile is a thicker “C” shape profile with plenty of shoulder while allowing the player to rest their thumb over the fretboard with ease. The Head stock features the “Offset Contoured Body” sticker and two string trees. Headstock’s with two string tress are uncommon for the time period as they came stock in the mid 1970’s. At some point the original mustang bridge was swapped out with a period correct Jazzmaster bridge. The Volume pot shows signs of heavy soldering, leaving it hard to read the date code. The Tone pot is clean and is covered by a capacitor leaving it hard to read the date code as well.
This 1969 Fender Mustang is in very good condition. It shows dings of dings, dents, and scratches across. The neck show signs of play wear from the 1st through the 17th fret. Frets are in good shape as a tongue dress was performed by our in house technicians.
