This Kalamazoo KG-11 features a ladder braced spruce top in a sunburst finish. Sunburst finishes during this period differ from one another. During the earlier years of production this models finish were very dark with just small burst of yellow dead center. These particular guitar’s finish fades from solid black to a red and then to a darker orange. The mahogany back and sides have a very dark stain while allowing the woods natural figure to shine through with a reddish hue. Guitars during this period are known for having a larger neck profile. This KG-11 has a very large hard “V” shape neck with a great amount of shoulder. The Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard is very dark with light red striping and tight grain.
This 1938 KG-11 is in very good condition. This finish shows signs of checking across the body. A back crack has been repaired and a support cleat has been added by our in-house technicians. The guitar shows signs of dings dents and scratches across.
