This Gibson J-35 comes from the Custom Shop, built underneath Kevin Kopp in 1997. This model was spec’d out by the original owner with a Quilted Mahogany Back & sides and a spruce top. The sunburst finish is very bright dead center and fades out to a warm to dark brown. Gibson’s “D” neck profile has plenty of shoulder and overall is rather thick which is common to the 50’s and earlier era of Gibson. The rosewood fingerboard has nice tight grain and sits more on the redder side.
This guitar was designed with a flower theme in mind and as you go down the fingerboard each inlay is made of mother of pearl and suits a different flower. The body and rosette have a three-ply binding design while the Headstock features Gibson’s script “pre-war” logo with the same flower inlay as the 3rd fret’s.
