Here we have a Fender Custom Shop Limited Edition Relic Thinline Telecaster. Finished in a striking Champagne Sparkle, this two-piece ash body received a Dirty Relic package. The neck is a nitrocellulose-lacquered ’57 soft V, with 6105 frets and a 9.5″ radius. As for electronics, this Tele features a Handwired Broadcaster bridge pickup, Twisted Tele in the neck, and a Modern Telecaster wiring circuit with a Greasebucket tone pot.
Unplugged, this guitar is very responsive – especially so for the picking hand. Each note in a full chord is heard equally, and no response in attack is short changed when switching from hard rhythm to single notes. Plugged in, this Tele packs a little extra heat. The Greasebucket circuit restricts high-end rolloff when turning down the volume – useful even more so in a hotter pickup set.
If someone could even fathom this axe back in the day, she was handled with care but certainly played and loved. This relic package shows that guitar today; It draws the inspiration of gigs and stories of the road, but this one is ready for your own to be written with it – and on it.
